KINDERGARDEN

Ages 5-6

55 Minutes

Our Kindergarten program is for children from 5 and 6 years old. They work on goal setting, hand-eye coordination, listening skills, large motor skills and fine motor skills, all in a gymnastics setting.


They will also learn basic gymnastics skills and vocabulary. We use all four events, bars, beam, floor and vault, as well as tumble track in our instruction. Some of the skills your child will be working on will include handstands, cartwheels, forward rolls and backward rolls. A typical class format will look like this:


Warm Up - The children will begin with a cardio or dance warm up.


Stretch - Teachers will lead a stretch. 


Gymnastics Instruction - The children will go to each event, (bars, beam, floor and vault) for guided instruction on each piece of equipment.

BLUE

Ages 6 or older

55 Minutes

Our Blue class is a one hour beginner class, and it is based on ability, rather than by age. Your child must be at least 6 years old to join a Blue Class. In this level we try to stress the importance of listening and goal setting, and emphasize a love of physical activity.


Some of the skills your gymnast would be working on could include handstands, cartwheels, backbends, pullovers and backhip circles. A typical class format for Blue would be:


Warmup - Children will run, do jumping jacks, or some other warm up to raise the heart rate.


Group Stretch - The children will stretch together as a group. 


Events - Children will be broken into smaller groups to go to each event (bars, beam, floor & vault). 


*In order to move to the next level (Purple) your gymnast must demonstrate a mastery of both the backbend on floor and the pullover on bars.

PURPLE

55 Minutes

Our Purple class comes after our Blue level, and is also a one hour class. By Purple our students are learning the importance of perserverance and dedication to a goal. While they will work on many of the same skills as in our Blue class they will also begin working some more advanced skills including backbend kickovers, back hip circles and front hip circles as well as more advanced tricks on beam, such as handstands and cartwheels (guided by their instructor). A typical class format may look like this:


Warmup - Children will run, do jumping jacks, or some other warm up to raise the heart rate.


Group Stretch - The children will stretch together as a group 


Events - Children will be broken into smaller groups to go to each event (bars, beam, floor & vault).


*In order to move to our next level (Red) your gymnast must demonstrate a mastery of their backben kickover on floor and their pullover and backhip circle on bars.

RED

1 hour 20 Minutes

Our Red class is our intermediate class and is 1.5 hours in length. By our Red class most students are well versed in gymnastics beginner skills and vocabulary and are now focusing on body awareness and muscle control. Some of the skills your gymnast would be working on may include backwalk overs, front hip circles and back handsprings with guided instruction. A typical Red class format could look like this:


Warmup - Cardi focused, and usually includes running, jumping, etc. Followed by a group stretch. 


Events - Children will be broken up into smaller groups of 7 to 8 and will go to each event (bars, beam, floor and vault) for about 15 minutes each.


Conditioning - Children will do excercises desgined to strengthen gymnasts, including sit ups and push ups etc. 


*In order to move to our next level (Yellow) your gymnast must demostrate competancy in their front hip circle, back walk over and backhandspring with guided instruction.

YELLOW

1 Hour 55 Minutes

Our Yellow class is our advances class at Arnold's Gymnastics and runs for 2 hours. By Yellow our students have shown dedication to physical fitness and are trying to perfect both body awareness and muscle control. Some of the skills your gymnast would work on could include round off backhandspring, front handspring, front hip circles and windmills. A typical format for a Yellow class might look like this:


Warmup - Cardi focused, and usually includes running, jumping, etc. Followed by a group stretch. 


Events - Gymnasts will be broken up into smaller groups of 7 to 8 and will go to events (bars, beam, floor and vault) for about 20 minutes each.


Conditioning - Gymnasts will do exercises designed to strengthen important muscle groups, including sit ups and push ups etc. These exercises are specifically chosen to help the gymnasts achieve new skills. 


**Prep Team is offered to Yellow students as a second class ONLY. This is a competition team. The gymnasts will learn routines to be performed in one or two competitions throughout the year. This class is a great addition for Yellows that still need to work on some skills but really want to compete and be a part of team.

10 & Up - All Events

Ages 10 or older

55 Minutes

Our 10 & Up class is based on age rather than ability. We welcome all students regardless of past experience as long as they are ten years or older. In this class the teacher will work to the student's ability to skills worked on in this class could range from cartwheels and handstands to round off backhandsprings. A typical class format might look like this:


Warmup and Stretch.


Events - They will go to all four events (bars, beam, floor and vault) for about 10 minutes each.


Conditioning - Students will be given specific excercises designed to strengthen them as gymnasts.


*There are no move-up skills for this class because it is based on age)

BOY'S BLUE

55 Minutes

Boy’s Blue is a beginner class based on ability, rather than age, for boys 6 & up. Our entry level Boy’s class is a jam packed, muscle building, fast paced workout. Boy’s will increase flexibility and gain core strength on preparation for our intermediate level (Boy’s Red) and will always leave sweating. A typical boy’s class will look like this:


Warm Up - A cardio focused warm up designed to raise the heart rate.


Stretch- Flexibility focused stretch led by instructor.


Gymnastics Instruction - Boy’s will go to each event for between 10 & 15 minutes each and focus on both basic skills and move up skills for Boy’s Red.

BOY'S RED

1 Hour 25 Minutes

Boy’s Red is our intermediate boy’s class. Entry is dependent upon a combination of skill, strength and ability to take and make corrections, and must be approved by Coach Paul before signing up. We introduce back handsprings and begin front tucks on floor. Boys will also perfect body shapes introduced in Boy’s Blue and must master back handsprings, 2+ second handstand hold, and be able to complete their age in chin ups before being considered for our advanced boy’s class. A typical Boy’s Red class will look like this:


Warm Up - A cardio focused warm up designed to raise the heart rate.


Stretch - Flexibility focused stretch led by instructor. As boys progress, flexibility will become more important and stretch workouts will reflect that.


Gymnastics Instruction - Boy’s will go to each event for between 15 & 20 minutes each and focus on both intermediate skills and move up skills for our Advanced Boy’s Class (Yellow).


Conditioning - While conditioning will be introduced in our beginner classes it will be a main component of Boy’s intermediate and advanced classes. This conditioning will include sit ups, push-ups, chin ups, etc.

BOY'S YELLOW

1 Hour 55 Minutes

Boy’s Yellow is our advanced 2 hour Boy’s Class. Boys will increase their tumbling to double back handsprings, learn back tucks, front handsprings and introduction to parkour-like flips off walls. The boys will also learn the Level 4 USAG Men’s Routine in preparation for competitive gymnastics. Boy’s Yellow is an invitation only class and boys must be evaluated by Coach Paul before they can sign up. A typical Boy’s Yellow class will look like this:


Warm Up - A cardio focused warm up designed to raise the heart rate.


Stretch - Flexibility focused stretch led by instructor. As boys progress, flexibility will become more important and stretch workouts will reflect that.


Gymnastics Instruction - Boy’s will go to each event to work advanced Boy’s skills that would prepare them for competition.


Conditioning - While conditioning will be introduced in our beginner classes it will be a main component of Boy’s intermediate and advanced classes. This conditioning will include sit ups, push-ups, chin ups, etc. and more time will be devoted to muscle conditioning as boys progress.
